In 2011 I bought a used 2005 6.0 liter diesel from Rick Ford. On glad ground it worked fine. It came with a 40 day 3,000 mile warranty. I brought it back in during the warrantee period because towing our camper up hill in Iowa caused the Turbo to kick out at 2800 RPM requiring a stop and restart, then manually without cruise getting up a hill not exceeding 2800 RPM. They cleaned the EGR valve and Oxygen sensor. 6 months later it wouldn't run without a load. This time they replaced the fuel filter, EGR and Oxygen sensor for $600.00. Then we loaded the travel trailer and headed to San Diego. On the way there and back, same problem. Kicked out at 2800 up hill. Then the ultimate failure. It wouldn't start. Left us stranded in the Arizona desert. Hauled Ford dealer in Winslow AS. We were told to sit down as we will have to when the estimate come in. 8 hours later, it needed a pressure switch, a new Turbo charger and other parts totaling $ 3,700.00 plus 10.01 sales tax. Well over $4,000.00. When I bougjt the truck with 82,000 miles a salesman named Matt assured me this 6 liter diesel was a good motor. They new the previous owner. He just couldn't keep it because he list his job. Unfortunately after this catastrophic failure I then looked up the previous owner. It was a Ford Dealer in Battle Creek, Michigan. Who used it to haul car hauling trailers. It was bought at auction by Rick Ford who really knew nothing about it and failed to properly repair it leaving my wife and I stranded in the Arizona desert where we ended up buying a new GMC pickup to get home. Rick Ford did not care about us. We only live 6 miles from them and hoped for a clise local dealer. That won't happen with them again. No concience there.
